Phil marks 9/11 with some appropriate music, and an interview with actor, director, singer, writer and native New Yorker, Ray Shell. Ray talks candidly about how he dealt with events on the day, and since. He also talks about the new West End show Respect La Diva, for which he is the vocal coach, his West End career, and his forthcoming biography of Spike Lee : The Eternal Maverick. Goatee Phil's album of the week is PJ Harvey's Mercury Music Prize-winning album Let England shake, and there's music from Bridget St John, the Kinks, 10,000 Maniacs, Tame Impala, Avi Buffalo and - of course - Bruce Springsteen.

A special one-off podcast featuring the voices that move me - thirteen of them. We begin with the great soul voices of Aretha and Smokey, then the less celebrated but no less wonderful Lorraine Ellison and Ann Peebles. Then there's the weird : Captain Beefheart and Roger Chapman from Family and the wonderful : the peerless Sandy Denny. There's the bluesy - Creedence Clearwater Revival's frontman John Fogerty and the stately and haunted Ian Curtis from Joy Division. The 80s and 90s bring us two singers who can rock out but can do spooky pastoral too - Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse) and Kristin Hersh. The noughties have also produced some fine new voices - my two favourites are both here : Corinne Bailey Rae and Alela Diane

This week Phil's guest is writer, artist, bon viveur, party animal par excellence Peter Jarrette. He talks about his career, and how it has taken him from Port of Spain to Brighton, with a few stops in between (Montreal, New York, Stockholm etc). He spins a few favourite tracks and talks about politics, stalkers and why he's never lived in Solihull. On the Get Right with God slot Phil plays a couple of tracks with something to say about urban unrest. There's Momma Cherri's recipe - a salad?! - and album of the week features Sandy Denny's second solo LP Sandy. Phil recalls when the album came out and the interview he did with Sandy for his Radio Warwick show.
